Northampton, described as "one of the only spots in New England with rural beauty that restores the soul", is the location of this adidas Tennis Camp. Smith is a top academic school, provides athletic facilities second to none in the area and is located only an hour from Hartford and under two hours from Boston.

The adidas Camp Director, Holy Cross Head Men's and Women's Coach Mike Lucas, brings a wealth of enthusiasm and tennis coaching experience to this site. Both programs have experienced a re-birth under his leadership. In 2003 the Lady Crusaders had their best season ever, finishing with a record of 18-2, and capturing the Division I New England Championships for the first time in school history. The Men's team in 2005 posted their first winning season in more than 20 years.

Prior to Holy Cross, Coach Lucas had been the varsity boy's tennis coach at Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge, MA for 10 years. In that time he helped develop one of the top high school tennis programs in the state, capturing nine straight conference championships. Mike has been a teaching professional for over 15 years and is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Registry. Coach Lucas is also the founder/director of the Tennis Camp at Holy Cross and the Tantasqua Tennis Camp in Sturbridge.

Coach Lucas is a 1990 graduate of Fordham University where he was a four-year varsity letter winner in both tennis and squash, serving as a captain his senior year. In 1993 he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Boston College.

In addition to his coaching duties, Mike has served as a History teacher at Tantasqua Regional High School since 1992. Coach Lucas and his wife Lydia reside in Brookfield, MA. They have four sons; Alex (13), Patrick (11), Reilly (9), and Michael (5); and one daughter Kelsie (2).

Evening activities at camp will include:

  • Movie night
  • Camp BBQ and S'more night
  • Pizza party
  • "Midnight Tennis"

Smith features a beautiful outdoor tennis complex with indoor courts on campus.
