Tennessee first year men's tennis coach Sam Winterbotham will direct this adidas Tennis Camp. Coach Winterbotham came to UT from the University of Colorado where he was the men's tennis coach for four years. During his tenure at Colorado he guided the team back to national prominence. In his final season, he led CU to a national ranking of 23, the highest in the school's history. In that same year, the Buffaloes recorded their first 20 win season in 10 years and made the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time since 1988. For his efforts, Coach Winterbotham was named ITA/Wilson Mountain Region Coach of the Year, as well as, Big 12 Conference Co-Coach of the Year.
Coach Winterbotham spent four seasons as an assistant at Baylor after graduating from Oklahoma Christian University, where he was the NAIA National Singles Champion and also ranked #1 in the country. While at Baylor, he was named the Region VI Assistant Coach of the Year and coached four All-Americans and two Academic All-Americans. He has spent his summers teaching tennis and has most recently directed the largest tennis camp in Colorado.
Campers will train at the UT varsity tennis complex, which includes the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center, one of the top indoor tennis centers in the SEC.
