About Our Coaches

Ben Oestreich

When Ben Oestreich was named the Edgewood College women’s tennis coach in 2009, he stepped into a program that had just come off their first NCAA Tournament berth. Oestreich has continued that success, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament three out of his four years as head coach. The Eagles have taken first place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference every year under Oestreich. Oestreich has compiled 62 overall wins and 41 conference wins in his first four seasons, which rank first all-time in Edgewood College history. In the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, Oestreich was named NAC Coach of the Year.

This will also be Oestreich’s fourth year as head coach of the Edgewood College men’s tennis team. After being discontinued in 2000, the men’s tennis program was reintroduced, with Oestreich at the reins. In two seasons as head coach, he has helped the men’s team to 23 overall wins and 18 NAC wins.

Oestreich (pronounced “A-strike”), a native of Portage, spent two  seasons as the men’s and women’s tennis coach at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. With the Knights, Oestreich guided both the men’s and women’s teams to two consecutive Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament berths. The women’s team broke the school record for victories in a season with 12 in 2007-08, while the men’s team racked up 15 dual match wins in 2008-09 to tie their all-time school record.

Prior to leading the Knights, Oestreich was the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at NAC rival Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis. At Lakeland, his alma mater, Oestreich coached consecutive Rookie of the Year winners and one No. 1 singles champion. He also assisted the Muskie women’s basketball team for four seasons, helping them to two conference titles and two NCAA tournament appearances.

I loved the personal assessment my kids received at the end of camp. They can now take this and use to improve their game throughout the year before camp next year.

My daughter came home from this camp with more confidence in her level of play. Her passion for the game has grown so much from the camp. The coaches did a great job of taking the time to go over what needed to be worked on and improved. I will definitely be sending her back to this camp! Thanks!

Ben Oestreich is an amazing coach and truly cares about the improvement of every player. He hired such an great staff. I loved that each kid got an evaluation of things they did well and things to work on over the year.
