Full Day: $679 (9am-4pm)
Half Day: $350 (9am-12pm)

RAIN POLICY

If it’s a full day of rain. We start activities in the morning indoors and then if still not able to play on afternoon go to Rocky Hill Indoor Club. 

OVERVIEW

adidas Tennis Camps is proud to announce their brand new camp at Cheshire Academy. Join us this July and August for these CT tennis camps at Cheshire Academy. Campers will play on the schools beautiful 6 court facility.

Camp is open to all ages and ability levels. We assess each camper’s ability during the first session of camp and make sure they are grouped according to their age and abilities so this way we can tailor the drills, games, and match-play to fit their individual needs.

Michael Filipek
Michael FilipekDirector & Owner of Beyond Camps

In his 17th year of directing camps, Michael Filipek is the founder and director of Beyond Camps (formerly known as Michael Filipek Tennis & Sports Academy). He was born and raised in central Connecticut, was a nationally ranked junior player and twice earned the #1 ranking in New England. He received a scholarship to attend Indiana University where he captained the men’s team and graduated in 1997. He subsequently gained professional tour experience in both the United States and Europe.

As a coach, Michael is a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional and has 25 years of full-time tennis teaching experience. He is the Head Tennis Professional & Junior Development Director at Tennis in Manhattan which operates three clubs in New York City and his Junior Development Program is the largest and most successful in Manhattan.

Michael brings his passion and lifetime tennis experience as a player and a coach to the adidas Tennis Camps making this an excellent choice for a tennis camp in Connecticut. His enthusiastic and caring style inspires players of all ages and levels.

Eric Henne
Eric Henne

Coach Henne has been with Beyond Camps for over a decade and has a wealth of tennis teaching and camp directing experience. As a player Eric played four years of varsity tennis at Springfield College. He was all NEWMAC sophomore year at #4 singles…with only one loss. In addition to many summers with Beyond Camps, Eric has also coached high school tennis in Newington for three years, in and is now in his third year of coaching girls tennis at East Catholic high school where he currently coaches one of the top 10 players in the state of CT.

Coach Henne is also a physical education teacher and an active player in USTA tournaments at a 4.5 level.

What to Expect

At adidas Tennis Camps you’ll receive individualized tennis training through a superior curriculum regardless your age or ability level. We want young tennis players to improve in every aspect of their game; our camps put a focus on individual skill development while incorporating drills and matches to emphasize teamwork & fun!

Features of our tennis staff include: Low camper-to-coach ratios; Groups based off of age & ability level; Fun, energetic, & experienced staff.

Supervision: The staff supervises campers for the entire duration of the camp. For overnight tennis camps, the staff will reside in the dormitories with the campers, providing supervision. Campers are expected to show respect towards other campers and the host facility. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco products are strictly forbidden, and will result in immediate dismissal from camp without refund.

TENNIS CAMP CURRICULM

Individual Skill Training

  • Forehand and backhand – Hands-on instruction daily on how to improve on the two make strokes in tennis

Technical Skills Training

  • Lobs and Top Spin – Practice and develop additional strokes you can use in matches
  • Drop-Shots – Work on the proper way to hit a drop shot to add to your game!
  • Serves – How to serve with confidence as well as work on all types of serves
  • Grip – Proper technique to optimize your game

Tactical Skill Training

  • Court Movements – Strategies and Practice of where to be on the court and when
  • Decision-making skills to solve problems at the correct time

Game-Based Learning

  • Rules & Scoring – Instructional Teaching
CHECK IN & CHECK OUT

FULL DAY OPTION: Check in Monday 8:30am (8:45am Tues-Fri), Check out daily at 4pm

HALF DAY OPTION: Check in Monday-Friday from 8:45am-9:00am. Check out at the courts at 12pm (5-7 year old’s only)

Campers will train on the beautiful 6 court tennis complex. Don’t miss out on one of the finest Connecticut tennis camps.

*Lunch is not included Monday-Thursday so please bring a bagged lunch. Friday we will be having a pizza day.

Tennis Typical Daily Schedule*

9:00am – Day campers arrive. Stretching and warm-up
9:15am – On-court training
11:15am – Match play
12:00pm – Lunch, half day campers depart
1:30pm – Match situation drills
3:00pm – Instruction
4:00pm
– Day campers depart

What to Bring to Camp

Below is a suggested list of items to bring to camp. We suggest that campers do not bring expensive personal items such as cell phones or laptops. Campers are allowed to bring cell phones to camp to contact their guardians, but they are not allowed on the field during training sessions. Please label every article you bring to camp. All personal items are the responsibility of each camper. adidas Tennis Camps and its camp staff are not responsible for lost, stolen, or forgotten items.
