AGE GROUP
adidas Tennis Camp is open to kids & teens ages 5 to 18 of all ability levels.
RAIN POLICY
We do have indoor option back ups for passing showers or quick storms on campus in the rec center. If the day looks like it will be a total wash out, we will be sure to communicate with you by 7:30am via email and pop ups on our website notifying you of a camp change. If a day is rained out, campers will be invited to come back another day in one of our other 6 weeks of camp or we will extend the other days of camp to help offset the missed time.

Session 4: HIGH SCHOOL PREP TRAINING WEEK
We will have high school and tournament players in camp and will be grouped together. This camp is designated for teens who are entering or are currently in high school. The week will be dedicated to players who are already on their High School team or would like to make their high school team this year. Training will be geared toward refining strokes and skills, learning the strategies of how to succeed in both singles and doubles, physical conditioning, focus and mental resilience.

With 6 sessions to choose from between June, July and August, the Connecticut Tennis Camp lasts for five/six full days and takes place at Fairfield University. -You will be grouped with other players based on your ability and age, so you can receive the most valuable coaching

Camp is open to all ages and ability levels. We assess each camper’s ability during the first session of camp and make sure they are grouped according to their age and abilities so this way we can tailor the drills, games, and match-play to fit their individual needs.
Camp Director
In his 17th year of directing camps, Michael Filipek is the founder and director of Beyond Camps (formerly known as Michael Filipek Tennis & Sports Academy). He was born and raised in central Connecticut, was a nationally ranked junior player and twice earned the #1 ranking in New England. He received a scholarship to attend Indiana University where he captained the men’s team and graduated in 1997. He subsequently gained professional tour experience in both the United States and Europe.
As a coach, Michael is a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional and has 25 years of full-time tennis teaching experience. He is the Head Tennis Professional & Junior Development Director at Tennis in Manhattan which operates three clubs in New York City and his Junior Development Program is the largest and most successful in Manhattan.
Michael brings his passion and lifetime tennis experience as a player and a coach to the adidas Tennis Camps making this an excellent choice for a tennis camp in Connecticut. His enthusiastic and caring style inspires players of all ages and levels.
Assistant Camp Director
Emilio Montejo is our On Site Director , where he brings a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach. Coach Montejo has been playing tennis for over 15 years, competing nationally and internationally, and was ranked among the top 30 in Florida. This will be Emilio’s fourth year working at our Fairfield University tennis camp, and he has a total of five years of teaching experience under his belt.
In addition to several summers of camp along with many private and group lessons, Emilio also has experience running several USTA tournaments. Coach Montejo’s passion for the game along with his technical expertise will serve campers quite well this summer at Fairfield University.
What to Expect
At adidas Tennis Camps you’ll receive individualized tennis training through a superior curriculum regardless your age or ability level. We want young tennis players to improve in every aspect of their game; our camps put a focus on individual skill development while incorporating drills and matches to emphasize teamwork & fun!
Features of our tennis staff include: Low camper-to-coach ratios; Groups based off of age & ability level; Fun, energetic, & experienced staff.
Supervision: The staff supervises campers for the entire duration of the camp. For overnight tennis camps, the staff will reside in the dormitories with the campers, providing supervision. Campers are expected to show respect towards other campers and the host facility. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco products are strictly forbidden, and will result in immediate dismissal from camp without refund.

TENNIS CAMP CURRICULM
Individual Skill Training
- Forehand and backhand – Hands-on instruction daily on how to improve on the two make strokes in tennis
Technical Skills Training
- Lobs and Top Spin – Practice and develop additional strokes you can use in matches
- Drop-Shots – Work on the proper way to hit a drop shot to add to your game!
- Serves – How to serve with confidence as well as work on all types of serves
- Grip – Proper technique to optimize your game
Tactical Skill Training
- Court Movements – Strategies and Practice of where to be on the court and when
- Decision-making skills to solve problems at the correct time
Game-Based Learning

Full Day Campers:
Monday-Friday 8:45am-9am check-in at the courts. Check out Monday-Friday is at 3pm. Lunch is included.
Half Day Campers:
All 6 weeks, Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm (5-8 year old’s only)

Tennis Typical Daily Schedule*
8:55am-9:00am – Check-in for full day & half day campers
9:00am – Off-court warm up and stretching
9:20am-11:15am – Topic of the day, morning training
11:15am-12:00pm – Half day campers depart, lunch, optional swim, chess
1:30pm – Games, point play, match play, extra help, team competitions & prizes
3:00pm – Full day campers depart

What to Bring to Camp
Below is a suggested list of items to bring to camp. We suggest that campers do not bring expensive personal items such as cell phones or laptops. Campers are allowed to bring cell phones to camp to contact their guardians, but they are not allowed on the field during training sessions. Please label every article you bring to camp. All personal items are the responsibility of each camper. adidas Tennis Camps and its camp staff are not responsible for lost, stolen, or forgotten items.
